When I was buying a new F-150 in 2005, I was picky, test driving the 4. This truck is much more practical than both of the Suburbans that we had before it. If you drive 90kph - 55mph, you can get 18-20mpg. Very clean and very well maintained. New for the 2005 Ford F150 was the Ford F150 King Ranch with Castano leather interior, a 4. Heated and power front seats.
General Comments: It has no power and towing is very poor. Ford does not respect their buyers. All engines are simulation tested and black light checked for leaks during testing. I was relieved to see that Ford bothered to design a classy-looking steering wheel and dashboard instead of those plastic shell dashboards that plagued previous Ford trucks. Optioned out with the exception of the sunroof.
The 6 disc changer stereo is excellent. General Comments: To all Ford lovers. People buy vehicles with extremely high miles and expect them to perform like new. The truck has the smaller V8, but we find it to be very responsive for daily driving. The truck felt sluggish when I bought it. The 2005 Ford F150 was available in true blue metallic, dark shadow gray metallic, bright red, black, and Oxford White. Truck does have typical beginnings of cab corner rust and over. The black paint came off the F-150 badge on the fender, but I like the look. General Comments: I want to say first that I am totally unbiased, and have no reason to exaggerate. It rides nice and has lots of power. Fuel pump at around 175k. Faults: Both power windows broke. I leave it in trans mode.
I live in a heavy lake effect snow belt area where 4 wheel drive is needed, and I am amazed how good it goes through heavy snow, without slipping a wheel in heavy snow. General Comments: This truck is beautiful, handles like driving a race car, is quiet and and has a comfortable ride. Timing covers are checked and machined for straightness to ensure a good seal.

The gas tank door doesn't lock. All rear-wheel drive Lariat SuperCab and Lariat SuperCrew models include a 5. It came std with the power windows, door locks and shift on the fly 4x4 that I didn't want, but I learned to love it. Other than these two little issues, the truck has been excellent.
