The removal procedure varies with the make of car. You should put the cylinders at 90° before tdc, set cam timing, them set crank timing. The big one being aligning your cam timing. So the head could be placed in a shop press, balanced front to back, and the middle bearing cap loaded with the press while the four other caps two on either side of the press frame are removed.
